What would you do if you were a geologist examining the walls of a trench searching for evidence of gold mineralization and somebody crept up and knocked you unconscious? When Dr Mark Altree found himself in that situation the trench he was lying in was being back-filled. Yes, he panicked and fled. Later, in his Brisbane office he discovered that a colleague was missing; returning unexpectedly to Pakistan, but his wife could not substantiate that report. Then, the Exploration Manager was discovered slumped over his desk, killed by two bullets. Dr Altree and two trusted colleagues investigate these crimes because the police are baffled. Is it a love triangle, messy gold business or something else?
